Allyson Felix
Allyson Michael Felix was a Los Angeles native born on November 18th, 1985. Paul Felix, her father, was an ordained pastor at Master's Seminary Sun Valley. Marlean Felix worked at Balboa Magnet school for children in the elementary grades. Felix's talent for athletics was apparent from the time she was enrolled at Los Angeles Baptist High School. Within 10 weeks of her first tryout she came third in the 200 meters during the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. Felix, who graduated high school in 2003 signed an agreement with Adidas. She then was accepted into at the University of Southern California and studied elementary education. The first Olympic medal was won at the 2004 Summer Olympics which took place which took place in Athens Greece. Felix set the world junior record by sprinting 200 meters in 22.18 seconds. Felix became the world's youngest winner in the 200m at the 2005 Helsinki World Championships and defended her title again in 2007 by beating her time-tested Jamaican rival Veronica Campbell. Felix was a frequent competitor at Beijing, London Rio de Janeiro, as well as Tokyo. She always finished within the top three places of all events.
